Workshop for Traditional Stone Artisans
The Crafts Council of India (CCI) in association with JDCA conducted the last in a series of five CCI workshops at the JDCA site in November 2007. The workshops were conducted in various regions of India, aiming to build teams of artisans capable of interpreting design briefs using a combination of new and traditional technologies. It aimed to revitalize a new generation of stone artisans. The workshop programme strived to protect craft traditions and provide a link between the craft heritage and a challenging contemporary world.Hamish Horsley from the City and Guilds of London Art School coordinated the workshop programmes and provided technical expertise; product development and training in the series was provided by designer Siddhartha Das.
